Days 68 69 & 70

I went on a three-day woman's retreat at Big Sandy Lake near McGregor, MN. They fed us pretty healthy, except on Saturday night the bread pudding made me ill (too rich). Otherwise, I didn't eat any of the desserts. I had popcorn on Saturday night as well. Since I didn't track what I ate, I will not be journaling my food diary for these days.

Thanks to my assistant Jackie today for being so supportive of my weight loss efforts. It wasn't a very good eating day today. The Chinese food sounded so good, but didn't sit well. It was too salty and just too much. I had a hard time counting points for everything and suspect I did much worse. I should put the ingredients for apple bread into WW to see how many points it really is - made with shortening (not good).

I'll be going home for lunch most of the week (except Friday) because my son is on vacation. He usually lets the dogs out of their kennels from noon to 2:30 p.m. So they're used to that routine - I'll be letting them out. I may go for lunch in the neighborhood and just run by to let them out. I'll have to do a little better on my lunch points. The apple bread is probably pretty high in points since it tastes like cake.

Today's WW lecture was on emotional eating. We're not usually hungry, and nothing really satisfies you. It's better to try to understand the emotion and find an alternative to eating. The main emotion people mentioned is being tired or bored. Krissy mentioned procrastination - she should be washing clothes but instead eats something. That sounded exactly like something I'd do. I heard an interesting suggestion on the radio the other day. When you find yourself overwhelmed and want to procrastinate, ask yourself what is the next step. Do that step and then ask yourself what is the next step. Pretty soon you will have accomplished the larger project. It's that way with weight loss. I went for a walk with Mark and the dogs at the retriever club.
